Tuesday 9th June 2020

Good morning Year 4, I hope you enjoyed creating your new character yesterday and found the maths OK too.

English

Today we are going to ‘box up’ our own version of The King of the Fishes tale. On pages 16 and 17, there are two different plans for you to look at. The first is very close to the original, the other moves away further, yet still has the main theme. Today you are going to put your character into your ‘box’ and make some notes about each event in the story. Then tomorrow, you will build up vocabulary that you want to use, in the same way that we plan in class.

The story link is below, so that you don’t have to keep going back to previous days.

Maths

This week we are continuing with our topic of statistics.

Over the next few days, I will be setting some revision tests covering what we have learned so far. Then, later in the week I will give you some challenge cards which require you to think deeper about the topic.

Test 2

World Ocean Day

Yesterday was World Ocean Day, and as our topic was What Lies Beneath Us? I thought you might like to do an activity related to that. Below are three ideas. You could do this over the course of the week.

The first is for you to put together a world map, naming the oceans. The template is attached.

The second activity is to create a fact-file about each of the world’s oceans, (Arctic, Atlantic, Pacific, Indian, Southern), which requires you to research and find facts about each of them. For example, how deep they are, what area they cover, what lives in them, which countries border them. You could then put these into a booklet.

Alternatively, you could find out about an unusual creature which lives in the ocean. Complete a fact-file about it and draw it.
