Planting
As the weather has been getting better Year 1 have taken the opportunity to get our garden ready for the Summer! Before we planted our seeds, we had to work in groups to get all the weeds out and make sure the soil was ready. This did mean getting our hands very dirty!!
After the flower beds were prepared, we got started planting our seeds. We went for sunflowers and sweet peas. We are now eagerly anticipating watching our flowers grow, and we hope for continued favourable weather to support their growth.
Design & Technology
This half term, Year 1 embarked on an engaging design and technology project which consisted of planning, building and designing bird boxes. The children showed amazing resilience and determination at times particularly when it came to the construction of the bird house using wood glue. After putting the bird boxes together, it was time for the children to get designing!
We are so proud of the children and their dedication and the brilliant outcomes that we have seen when completing their bird boxes.
We would also like to thank all the parents that came to support year 1 when it was time to glue the wood together!
World Book Day 2025
February 2025
In English this half term year 1 have been studying the book 'One Day On Our Blue Planet.....In the Savannah' by Ella Bailey.
Within this unit the children got to write poems about the African Savannah during the day and at night time, thinking about all the fascinating animals. We finished this topic by creating a Non-Chronolgical report on lions.
At the beginning of this half term, as a class, we got the chance to plant a Broad Bean seed and observe it grow over time. This has been an interesting process!
Year 1 have had a busy half-term these past few weeks filled with learning and festive fun!
Lights, Camel, Action Christmas Show
Years 1 and 2 worked incredibly hard this term to prepare for our amazing Christmas show, 'Lights, Camel, Action'! We had so much fun performing it for everyone at school as well as our families.
