BBC 500 WORDS STORY COMPETITION 2024

We have been learning about story writing in school, and the children have been building their understanding of story structures. As a challenge, we are encouraging as many children as possible to have a go at creating their own story to enter into the BBC 500 Words Story competition. As inspiration, the children could read lots of the past entries - there have been some amzing stories over the years! Also for inspiration, Year 3 children have planned and had their planning turned into short stories. They may well recognise their ideas in the stories below. We hope you enjoy reading them. 

If your child does fancy entering the competition, then they should create their own original story and then type it out before sending it to cward@ladbrooke,herts,sch,uk  (if you are not able to send it digitally, then they could bring in the story and we will type it for them before entering it into the competiton). The closing date for the competition is 7th November, so entries must be sent to Mr Ward as soon as possible. 

The competition has some brilliant prizes for the winners, and if we have enough children entering we may also have more chance of winner some nice prizes for the school. However, the m,ain purpose of the competition is for children to let their  imaginations run wild and have fun being creative. Good luck.
